Pack Your Bags!!! You are going on a two-week trip to Africa, traveling to at least three of the areas where our literature for the unit is based. To help fund your trip, you will each have a different amount of money available to you based on random selection.
Directions:1. Create a detailed log (itinerary) of your trip.a.What is the plan for your trip from the time you step on the plane until you return? It takes at least six hours to fly non-stop to California; most flights stop to refuel or change planes. Write an itinerary of times and places you will have to stop on your way to and from Africa. Once there, how many days will you be spending in each country?
2. Write a journal. You will be gone fourteen days; you must journal for at least 7 of those days, covering the places you visit and experiences you have. Each journal must be at least 100 words. In your journals, consider including some of the following information: a. How did you overcome barriers? Consider how different the culture is. Driving is opposite of what you are used to, language could be a barrier, currency needs to be exchanged, electrical items won't fit their plugs, etc. What will you do prior to leaving for the trip to prepare? b. What did you take with you? Think about interesting things you will bring with you and incorporate them into your journal. Consider personal basics such as hygiene items as well as things you feel you can’t be without for that long like gaming gear, digital camera, guitar, skateboard, cell phone, MP3 player laptop computer, etc.c. What did you do on your trip? Do research on the specific countries you will be visiting to see what there is to do to experience the culture. What sights are you going to see? What tours are you going to take? How are you going to spend your days? This can be done day by day, or as a journal entry. Write it as a memoir in first-person past tense to share with us what you did. Use Expedia Travel to find tours. d. How did you spend your money? Include such expenses as: meals, rental car/gas, and souvenirs.
3. Use pictures and maps to help illustrate your trip. The map will highlight the course you will travel. Find pictures to show what you did while you were there. You will put the map and pictures on your poster board for to summarize your vacation.
Be creative! Tell me about the little quirky things that happen and the interesting people you meet from the time you step onto your plane or boat until the time you get back home. You can do anything you want there (within legal limits). Be careful… Glorification of sexual acts, drugs, and/or alcohol will result in a failing grade.
To assist you…. First of all, do some research on the locations from our literature for the unit which are listed below. You must travel to at least three of them. Check into websites for travel agencies to see where vacationers usually go, or discover a less popular place to travel to gain a unique perspective. In addition, you want to go to the websites of Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and State Department Warnings to look for health issues or restrictions when traveling in these areas. Use www.wikitravel.orgto help with costs of such a trip, plane fare, and the like. For timeline purposes, you need to book your trip to occur over this summer. Use this for flights too, but you'll have to convert Euros to US Currency to see the cost.
